Canberra has been home to Dr Shareif ELHOUFY since March 2004. Over the years, he has cared for three generations of some local families, welcoming their friends and relatives through word-of-mouth referrals. Outside the practice, he enjoys family life and participating in sport and recreation across the ACT. These longstanding connections shape his personal approach to care, helping patients feel heard and involved in their treatment.

On credentials, Dr Shareif ELHOUFY holds a Bachelor of Dental Sciences with Honours, Australian Dental Council certification (Melbourne), and MRACDS(GDP) from the Royal Australian College of Dental Surgeons (Sydney). He is also a Fellow of the International Academy for Dental-Facial Esthetics (New York), registered with the Dental Board of Australia through Ahpra, and has been a Federal member of the Australian Dental Association for more than 20 years. As Clinical Director at A1 Dental Barton, he brings more than 25 years of dental experience and a commitment to Clinical Governance.

A local Canberran, Dr Taban Napaki brings a warm, approachable manner to caring for individuals and families at A1 Dental Barton. She particularly enjoys working with children, taking a gentle, patient approach to help younger patients feel at ease. She takes time to listen, answer questions and explain each step, with particular consideration for those who feel nervous about visiting the dentist. She strives to make every visit a positive experience, helping patients feel comfortable, informed and involved in their care.

On credentials, Dr Taban graduated from James Cook University with Distinction and was awarded membership of the Golden Key International Honour Society for her academic performance. Her experience spans both public and private dental practice, with a strong focus on preventative dentistry and patient education. She helps patients understand their treatment options and develop practical habits to support their long-term oral health.

Originally from Vancouver, Dr Arash Mohseni now calls Canberra home. Outside the practice, he enjoys exploring local markets, hiking, sailing, comedy and spending time with friends and family. At A1 Dental Barton, he brings a calm, gentle approach to care, taking time to explain treatment options and help patients feel comfortable and involved in their dental health.

On credentials, Dr Arash holds a Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) from the University of Sydney. Before moving to Canberra, he worked in private practice in Newcastle, gaining experience caring for a regional community. He enjoys all aspects of general dentistry, with an emphasis on minimal intervention, preserving natural teeth and patient education. He also enjoys helping patients work towards straighter teeth through clear aligner options tailored to their individual needs.

Having grown up in England, Korea and Canada, Dr Carter Choi brings a multicultural perspective to caring for Canberra’s diverse community at A1 Dental Barton. He values clear communication and takes time to understand each patient’s concerns, explain their options and help them feel welcome and involved in their care. Fluent in Korean, he can also support patients who prefer to discuss their dental care in that language. Outside the practice, he enjoys badminton and golf.

On credentials, Dr Carter holds a Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) from the University of Sydney. His interests include preventative dentistry and digital technologies that support diagnosis and treatment planning. He regularly undertakes further education to build his knowledge and skills, with an emphasis on helping patients understand and maintain their oral health.
